Rooted in Strength™

Your presence matters

You don’t have to know everything to make a difference.

Rooted in Strength™ prepares fathers and partners to show up with steadiness through pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery and early parenthood — informed, present, and following the lead of the person carrying the child.

This is the front door to the whole system: a free resource you can read tonight, a living hub of support pathways, and a structured program for organizations ready to go further.

C1 Community Edition

Free, and free of conditions

The Community Edition is the free public educational resource in the Rooted in Strength™ system: a short printed guide for fathers and partners covering pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

No email address. No registration. No payment. No form. It downloads when you click, because a resource that asks something of a family before it helps them is not a free resource.

Front page of the Community Edition guide: Your Presence Matters, with the six steps and the grounding sequence.
Back page of the Community Edition guide: warning signs, emergency numbers, support pathways and the S.H.I.E.L.D. model.

The philosophy

Presence Is the Intervention™

Being present means more than being in the room. It means paying attention, listening, staying grounded, communicating, and continuing to show up when your family needs you.

A father or partner who is informed and steady may help a concern get noticed earlier, carried into a conversation with a clinician, and followed up rather than quietly dropped.

An honest limit. Presence is not a treatment and it is not a guarantee. Rooted in Strength™ has not been clinically validated or independently evaluated, and no outcome is promised here. It is educational support for families, offered alongside professional care and never in place of it.

And it works in one direction. Supporting her voice is not speaking instead of her. The pregnant person’s voice, preferences and decisions stay at the center; the role of the partner is to help them be heard, not to replace them.

Show up, stay steady, and keep her at the center of her own care.

C1-R · the living Resource Hub

When you need more than a guide

The Community Edition tells you how to show up. The Father & Family Resource Hub is where you go when a family needs something specific — and it stays current as resources change.

The Hub is a separate, living page. It is not duplicated here, so that one place keeps those pathways current rather than two that can drift apart.

The structured intervention

S.H.I.E.L.D. — a six-week perinatal equity intervention

S.H.I.E.L.D. is the core intervention model within Rooted in Strength™, as the Community Edition itself states. It is one part of the system, not the whole of it — the free Community Edition stands on its own, and S.H.I.E.L.D. is a six-week perinatal equity intervention under the Fatherhood Navigation Division.

Program development

Structured implementation of S.H.I.E.L.D. is still in development. Organizational inquiries are welcome, but we cannot promise availability or a timeline yet. Nothing here represents a clinically validated or independently evaluated program.

It carries two definitions, and both are correct.

Community definition

Stabilizing Homes through Intervention & Engagement for Labor Disparity Reduction

Clinical / System Translation

Stability · Health Awareness · Intentional Communication · Emotional Regulation · Leadership in the Family · Devotion to the Child

The first is how we say it to the community it serves. The second is how it translates for clinicians, funders and systems. Neither replaces the other.

Permissions

Print it. Share it. Hand it to a family.

The unaltered C1 Community Edition is intended to be freely shareable for family and community educational use. Organizations, clinics, community programs and individuals are meant to be able to download it, print it and hand it to a family.

The intent is that it travels unaltered, with its credits and its non-clinical notice intact.

Free distribution is not ownership. Sharing the Community Edition is not a license to the intervention. Co-branding, adaptation, curriculum integration, training, institutional implementation and licensing require engagement with LaSaaun Lives Foundation.

Are You Using Rooted in Strength™?

If your organization is handing out the Community Edition, we would like to know — not to gate it, but because knowing where it travels is how this work grows.

This form is entirely voluntary. The download above does not depend on it and never will.

Roadmap

The system is growing

Rooted in Strength™ was built one piece at a time, in response to what families actually needed. More is coming, and we would rather name it honestly than imply it is finished.

Component Status

What “in development” means. It means not finished. Nothing marked in development has been clinically validated, independently evaluated or released, and we will not describe it as available until it is.

For organizations and systems

Four ways in, depending on how far you’re ready to go

Organizations arrive at different depths. You do not have to start at the end.

  1. Referral Resource

You hand families the Community Edition and point them to the Hub. Nothing to sign.

  2. Community / Program Introduction

Rooted in Strength™ is introduced to the families and staff in your program.

  3. Structured Pilot

A defined, time-bound run with your population, with agreed scope.

  4. Implementation, Training & Partnership

Staff training, integration into your workflow, and a working relationship with LaSaaun Lives Foundation.

Levels 2, 3 and 4 require direct engagement with LaSaaun Lives Foundation. Formal adoption, adaptation, training and institutional integration are not self-serve — they involve scope, fidelity to the intervention, and a conversation about what your families actually need.

Levels 2 to 4 depend on what we are able to deliver at the time you ask, and we will tell you plainly if we are not ready.

Start where you are

A father reading a short guide tonight and a health system planning a pilot are both doing the same thing: deciding to show up.

You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to have every answer. You do need to stay present.
